Custom Sudoku Puzzle Generator, Sudoku Maker

Turn a puzzle idea or an existing grid into an interactive Sudoku that is ready to play, share, or embed. Sudoku Maker gives you a blank standard 9x9 board for defining the givens, adding candidate numbers with Notes, or importing a puzzle from a supported text format. After checking the grid, the tool prepares a shareable puzzle URL and iframe embed code for websites and blogs. It is a useful workspace for puzzle authors, teachers, bloggers, and players who want precise control over the starting board. You provide the clues and shape the challenge, while the maker handles presentation and distribution.

Create a Custom Sudoku Puzzle

Build the starting board exactly as you want players to receive it. Enter only the givens that should be fixed at the beginning and leave the remaining cells open for solving. Notes can hold candidate numbers without turning them into permanent clues, which is useful for demonstrations and partially analysed grids. You retain full control over the puzzle layout and every clue position.

Import a Sudoku Grid

Save time when your puzzle already exists in another application or text file. Import a readable formatted grid, a compact 9-line grid, or an 81-character string in which dots or zeroes represent empty cells. The maker also accepts the formatted notes layout shown below. Once imported, review the cell positions, givens, and candidate notes directly on the board before creating the interactive version.

Add Notes and Candidate Numbers

Prepare a more useful solving or teaching experience by recording possible values from 1 through 9 in unsolved cells. Candidate numbers remain separate from the fixed givens and can also be supplied through the supported notes import format. Preserve selected notes when sharing an in-progress analysis, preparing a classroom example, or embedding a puzzle whose important candidates should already be visible.

Validate the Puzzle Before Sharing

Before the custom game is created, the maker checks for duplicate digits in each row, column, and 3x3 box and attempts to complete the entered grid with the current solving routine. Correct any conflicting givens or no-solution message before continuing. Passing this check means the tool found a completion; it does not confirm that the puzzle has only one possible solution, rate its difficulty, or assess the quality of its clue pattern.

Share or Embed Your Sudoku

Publish the finished setup in the format that best suits your audience. The maker creates a URL that preserves the starting grid and can include candidate-note data, giving another player direct access to the same puzzle. Open the link first for a final review, then copy it wherever you want to share the challenge. For a website or blog, use the generated iframe code. Embed options can hide navigation, disable hints, and enable automatic notes so the puzzle fits more naturally into an external page.

Sudoku Maker or Sudoku Generator?

A Sudoku maker lets an author define and edit the givens. An automatic Sudoku generator would construct a new puzzle, remove clues under its own rules, and usually classify the result by difficulty. This page performs the first role only: you supply the puzzle and the tool prepares it for play, sharing, or embedding. To inspect a grid from another source, use the Sudoku solver. You can also play free Sudoku online or print Sudoku puzzles.
